Job Description

Title: Full-Time Family Assistant & Nanny (Early Childhood Focus)

Employment Type: Full-Time (40+ hours per week)

Location: McKinney, TX 75072

Proposed Start Date: ASAP

Compensation: $40-45/hour based on experience

Requirements: Able to maintain a smoke-free environment, has reliable transportation, willing to sign NDA, and has experience in early childhood education and/or Montessori-inspired childcare.

Schedule & Flexibility: This role does not follow a traditional Monday–Friday, 9–5 schedule. Hours will flex based on the family's travel, seasonal demands, and household needs, including occasional late nights and every other weekend coverage. Scheduling is handled collaboratively and planned as far in advance as possible, with an emphasis on clear communication, fairness, and coordinated coverage with other household staff to support sustainable time off.

Details include:

  • Full-time hours (at least 40 per week with flexibility to stretch up to 50 hours per week, particularly during travel periods)
  • No more than 5 days per week , with a consistent, reliable schedule agreed upon in advance
  • Some evenings, weekends, and longer days required during peak seasons
  • Typically every other weekend off
  • During travel-heavy months (typically June–September), this role will require travel with the family both domestically and internationally.

About Our Family:

We are a busy, private, health-conscious family with young children and homes in multiple locations. Our household values wellness, nutrition, clean living, and thoughtful routines, with a strong emphasis on creating a calm, nurturing environment during these early years. Our days can be full and dynamic, with periods of travel and shifting schedules due to both parent's demanding and unpredictable careers, which is why having a well-organized, proactive household team is essential.

We currently work with a small household staff and are building toward a fully supported, long-term household structure. This role will work closely with other team members to keep our home(s) running smoothly—whether we are in residence or traveling—and to ensure consistency, organization, and care across all environments.

Who We're Looking For:

This is first and foremost a childcare-forward role for someone who genuinely loves early childhood development and thrives creating engaging, thoughtful days for young children. Approximately 70% of the position centers around childcare and family support, with the remaining portion focused on key household management tasks that help keep the home running smoothly.

We're seeking an experienced, grounded, and proactive professional who deeply understands Montessori-inspired learning, child-led play, emotional regulation, and developmentally appropriate engagement. You naturally align with values like organic food, gentle parenting, low-to-no screen time, and intentional routines.

The ideal candidate is highly organized and systems-oriented, especially when it comes to children's activities, meal prep, routines, and household flow. You enjoy creating calm and order, are confident offering thoughtful suggestions, and work well independently while collaborating seamlessly with hands-on parents and other household staff.

Our ideal candidate is:

  • Deeply experienced with early childhood development and Montessori/Waldorf or holistic child development philosophies
  • Highly engaging, creative, and confident planning child-led activities and enrichment
  • Exceptionally organized and detail-oriented
  • Passionate about health, nutrition, clean living, and holistic wellness
  • Proactive and autonomous — sees what needs to be done and handles it
  • Calm, kind, emotionally intelligent, and grounded
  • Flexible with scheduling and travel needs while maintaining strong reliability and follow-through
  • Comfortable collaborating closely with hands-on parents and other household staff
  • Discreet, trustworthy, and comfortable signing an NDA
  • Fluent in Spanish or French (strong plus, not required)

Key Responsibilities:

This role is primarily focused on childcare and family support, which makes up approximately 70% of the position. The remaining 30% centers around key household management responsibilities that help keep the home running smoothly day to day — primarily laundry, meal prep, and general organization. Other responsibilities support the overall flow of the home and are handled as time allows or on an as-needed basis. We care more about the right things getting done thoughtfully, not checking every box.

Childcare & Family Support

  • Partner closely with mom and lead nanny to provide attentive, nurturing, and developmentally appropriate childcare and supervision
  • Plan engaging Montessori-inspired activities, crafts, sensory play, outings, and child-led learning opportunities
  • Create calm, engaging daily rhythms and routines for the children
  • Organize and maintain children's spaces, toys, learning materials, and activity setups
  • Assist with curriculum planning, activity preparation, and toy/material rotations
  • Help organize and systematize family ideas, Pinterest boards, wellness inspiration, activities, recipes, and educational resources
  • Prepare children for outings, travel, and activities with appropriate snacks, clothing, supplies, and entertainment
  • Assist with occasional activity pickups/drop-offs for older children
  • Travel with the family and provide additional childcare support during travel periods and schedule shifts
  • Engage with children in a calm, emotionally intelligent, and developmentally appropriate way

Laundry & Linen Care

  • Wash, dry, fold, steam, and organize family laundry
  • Handle delicate garment care, including hang drying and natural fibers
  • Maintain organized laundry systems and ensure supplies remain stocked
  • Refresh towels, linens, bath mats, and bedding regularly

Meal Prep & Kitchen Support

  • Prepare healthy snacks, smoothies, juices, muffins, baked goods, and grab-and-go items for the children and family
  • Wash, chop, and organize produce and ingredients in advance for easy household use
  • Batch prep healthy staples and maintain organized food systems
  • Shop for high-quality, organic ingredients as needed
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and functional kitchen environment post-prep
  • Support and adhere to the family's holistic food standards and ingredient preferences

Household Organization & General Support

  • Reset and tidy high-traffic household spaces daily to maintain calm and order (Load/unload dishwasher, wipe surfaces, vacuum high-traffic areas)
  • Create and maintain organizational systems for closets, pantries, storage areas, mudrooms, and children's spaces
  • Coordinate household supply inventory, restocking, and running supply lists
  • Handle packages, mail sorting, returns, deliveries, and breaking down boxes
  • Assist with donation drop-offs, errands, and household runs as needed
  • Support packing/unpacking for travel and seasonal transitions
  • Help prepare the home for guests, holidays, events, and family arrivals
  • Ensure adults and children are prepared for outings with snacks, clothing, and essentials packed appropriately
  • Refresh weekly household systems such as fridge clean-outs, pantry resets, and laundry organization
  • Maintain indoor plants and general household upkeep

Additional Support Areas (As Time Allows)

Vehicle Management

  • Schedule maintenance, inspections, oil changes, and car washes
  • Keep vehicles clean, organized, and fueled
  • Track registrations, insurance, and service schedules

Property & Estate Oversight

  • Coordinate pool maintenance and outdoor spaces
  • Serve as a point of contact for vendors, service providers, and guests
  • Prepare guest house/pool house spaces for arrivals and seasonal use
  • Conduct occasional property walk-throughs to ensure cleanliness, safety, and readiness
  • Maintain the same level of organization and household support while traveling with the family to other residences

Deep Cleaning & Special Projects

  • Oversee quarterly deep cleans alongside housekeeping staff
  • Manage toy rotations, seasonal décor, and gear organization
  • Organize high-use storage areas such as garages and utility spaces
